PROCEDURE ON HOW TO PLANT STRAWBERRY PLANTS

There will be a slideshow of photos of the training that Bro. & Sis. Harris attended at the UF County Extension Center.  This class prepared us on how to plant our Strawberry Plant.

What to use?

The osmocote in the pan is what has to go on each row along with 10-10-10.  Items can be purchased from Lowes

·         Photo of strawberry plants

·         Workers and procedures for putting in grounds

   Procedure—

A trench has to be dugged on the side of each row. One side to put the 10-10-10. The other side to put the osmocote(very powerful) don’t breathe in. we may need to get nose mask.

·         Lowes sell the Osmocote. See attached photo

·         Then you put the osmocote(very powerful, don’t use much, just a sprinkle along the entire row.

·         Then do the other side of the row—place the 10-10-10.

·         Afterwards, you have to bring the dirt back up over the 10-10-10 and osmocote to make the High bed in row.

·         Then the drip tape has to be placed and clamped on top of the bedded rows and clamped into place.

·         After that the weed cloth has to be placed over the entire rows evenly.

·         Then you have to measure for the marking to place the strawberries in ground with the weed cloth on top (have to cut cloth) see photo

·         Each should be approximately 14 inches apart depending on how many you have to plant.

·         Use a long rod and make marking on the stick for even distance between each plant.

Once the weed cloth is in place, then you have to cut a                         a  t-shape with scissors. Once that is done you have to stick your hand in the ground in the center of your cut (slits) and place the strawberry plant in the ground with the (crown) part of the plant showing above the ground. See photo of this.

It’s a procedure.
